NEW CARDS: POWER CRYSTALS
The Power Crystal Expansion features 2x copies of 10 unique Power Crystals cards all with different abilities to swing the battle in your favor. Some crystals feature core set keywords (i.e. Rally! and Enchant!) while others feature brand new Keywords (see below)!

In addition, new Power Indicators are featured on each card with either an “A” or “P.” Representing Active (“A”) or Passive (“P”), the indicators represent different styles of play (see General Gameplay).

New Power Indicators:
A: Active
P: Passive

New Keywords:
Burn!: Destroy a Friendly or Opponent’s Roll, and Roll Again!

Crumble!: Roll the D4 to Subtract Power from Opponent’s Rolls!

Epic Chance!: Choose a Number on the D4. Player has Two Chances to Roll for Victory!

Epic Smite!: All Friendly Cards are Given Smite!

Grow!: Roll the D4 for Bonus Power

NEW CHARACTER: DELVERS

The Delvers represent a treasure-seeking (and finding!) character for each class. With the new keyword “Boon!,” players decide which Keyword they need in any situation (see General Gameplay). With a Power Level of “0”, playing the Delver takes a situational awareness and a deft hand! Use the gift wisely!

UPGRADED CHARACTER: RANGERS

Each classes’ Rangers have been upgraded! With the new Keyword “Destroy!”, each Ranger has been given the mission to seek and destroy an opponent’s Power Crystal! Whenever a Ranger is in play, they instantly destroy an opponent’s Power Crystal (see General Gameplay)!

UPGRADED CHARACTER: SAGES

Each classes’ Sages have also been upgraded! With the new Keyword “Summon”, each classes’ Sage give the player the ability to draw and play a Power Crystal (see General Gameplay)!

MORE ROLLING: THE D4
When certain Power Crystals are in play, another roll of the die is required. A print/braille 4-sided die (or D4) is included for these particular moments. Identical to the D12 in the core game, each face of the D4 has the print number with braille equivalent. For tactile users, the braille numbers follow the same alphanumeric sequence (thus, a=1, b=2, c=3, d=4).

UPDATED GAMEPLAY:
2-Player Directions

Card Array Emphasizing Power Levels

POWER IS STILL KING:
The foundation of the game is the same! To overpower your opponent with phenomenal Power is to obtain victory.

GENERAL RULES APPRENTICE CORE:
The General Rules from Apprentice ICG are still in play however with the addition and changes to gameplay noted below.

CARD SUBSTITUTIONS:
Delvers, Upgraded Rangers, and Upgraded Sages should be added to each classes’ core deck while removing the basic (non-Keyword) Rangers and Sages. Each class should now contain a total of 32 cards.

PRO “RALLY!”:
As in the core rules, the “Pro Rally!” rules mean that only character cards can be rallied. So, only characters with a Power Level of 0-11 (including Delvers) can be used with the “Rally!” keyword. Cards with “?” cannot be Rallied. Players and Teams can choose to not use the “Pro Rally” option, but it is the default. And again, if a player has only “?” cards in their hand after playing a “Rally!” card, they forfeit playing any additional cards in the battle.

Power Crystal 2 Player Setup

POWER CRYSTAL DECK SETUP:
Setup is similar to Apprentice Core. The only difference is that the Power Crystal class (all 20 cards) are shuffled and set aside as a separate draw deck. Whenever a “Summon!” or “Boon!” (see “Delver” or “Sage” sections below), a player is able to draw from the Power Crystal deck. When drawing, the player gets to draw 2 Power Crystals and select the preferred option. The unselected Power Crystal is put back into the bottom of the Power Crystal deck.

Power Crystal Delvers

USING THE DELVER
The Delver character is quite the treasure hunter! With the new keyword “Boon!” a gift is given to the player that uses the card. There are two different ways to use “Boon!” that must be decided at the start of the game.

Option 1: Boon! as “Summon!” or “Destroy!”
This is the primary and default option for “Boon!” Power Crystals are fun to play and getting to summon more adds to the gameplay adventure. With this option, there are more chances to draw Power Crystals and get them in use as soon as possible. However, “Boon!” can also be used defensively as a “Destroy!” card on the opponent’s Power Crystals.

Option 2: Boon! as Any Non-Power-Crystal Keyword
This is a more advanced option for players looking for more challenge and combinations. “Boon!” can be used for Chance, Destroy, Enchant, Rally, Smite, or Summon. It is the gift of gifts!

Power Crystal Sages

USING THE SAGE
The Sage is the primary card for drawing Power Crystals. When played, the player gets to draw 2 Power Crystals from the Power Crystal deck and choose their preferred option while placing their non-preferred option back into the bottom of the Power Crystal deck.

Power Crystal Rangers

USING THE RANGER
The Ranger is the primary card to discard any of the opponent’s Power Crystal. With the Keyword “Destroy!”, Rangers have the ability to destroy 1 Power Crystal in play or in-hand. The destroyed Power Crystal is given to the player who played the ranger to put into their discard pile. Rangers may lose the main battle but still get to put the destroyed Power Crystal in their hand.

Power Crystal Card Examples

USING POWER CRYSTALS
Power Crystals allow for epic combinations to win battles! When summoned, Power Crystals have two different ways to be played based on their Power Indicator. In the Power Circle, Power Crystals will either have an “A” (for Active) or “P” for Passive.

Power Indicators:
A: Active
P: Passive

If a player selects an Active Power Crystal, it is added to their hand and can be played whenever even directly after drawing. However, once an Active Power Crystal is used, it goes directly into the player’s discard. Active Power Crystals can only be used once.

If a player selects a Passive Power Crystal, it is placed face-up on the game table to show that the Power Crystal is in play. Passive Power Crystals can be reused until they are destroyed.

Power Crystal Known Keywords

CORE POWER CRYSTAL KEYWORDS:
Two Power Crystal cards use Keywords from Apprentice Core. “Enchant!” and “Rally!” are used exactly the same. Enchant! rolls the D12 for added power, and Rally! adds another card into play (“Pro Rally” still applies if playing by those rules).

Power Crystals New Keywords

NEW POWER CRYSTAL KEYWORDS:
Let’s take a look at some further details of the new Power Crystal Keywords.

Burn!: Destroy a friendly or opponent’s roll, and roll again! If an opponent rolled too high or you rolled too low, use Burn! to command a reroll.

Crumble!: Roll the D4 to subtract power from opponent’s rolls! Every time an opponent roles, the player gets an opportunity to roll the D4 to subtract Power. Note: Applies to Chance!

Epic Chance!: Choose a number on the D4. Player has two chances to roll for victory! Players have a 50% chance to instantly win the battle. An epic upgrade to the standard Chance!

Epic Smite!: All friendly characters are given Smite! Any card with a Power Level of 0-11 has Smite! as a Keyword. Watch out Dragons!

Grow!: Roll the D4 for bonus Power on all friendly rolls! Every roll a player makes can be increased with the Power from the D4. Note: Applies to Chance!

Power!: Double a character’s Power. Double the Power a friendly character (cards with a Power Level between 0-11).

Pull!: Steal a Power Crystal from an opponent. Whether on-table or in-hand, any Power Crystal can be stolen at any time.

Trance!: Keep 3 cards in-hand! The player gets to draw an extra card and keep 3 cars in-hand until the Power Crystal is destroyed.

Power Crystal End Game Card Backs

END GAME:
The end of the game is the same! Whoever has the most cards at the end of the game wins. End game ties are handled as Apprentice Core: a roll-off with the D12.

DON’T FORGET TO RESHUFFLE AND PLAY AGAIN!
